Claire Connelly is a senior executive and accountant with 20 years’ experience across the
private and public sectors. As Principal at Synectic, Claire leads the firm’s multidisciplinary
advisory team, delivering integrated solutions in governance, risk, climate strategy, and data-
informed decision-making. Her work helps clients navigate complex regulatory environments
and build resilience in the face of disruption.

Claire’s career extends beyond traditional accounting and finance roles, with experience in
hospitality, recruitment, resource consulting, and local government. She is deeply committed
to community and public value, serving as President of the Devonport Chamber of
Commerce & Industry, Non-Executive Director of the Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce &
Industry, independent member of the Department of Treasury and Finance Audit & Risk
Committee and as a volunteer board member for a not-for-profit organisation.
She actively contributes to the profession through several roles, including Tasmanian
Divisional Councillor for CPA Australia and Chair of the Institute of Internal Auditors
(Tasmanian Chapter). Claire is also a graduate of the 2019 Tasmanian Leaders Program.
Her expertise includes leadership, strategy, stakeholder engagement, project management,
financial and management reporting, governance, and business development. She brings
deep capability in risk management, quality assurance, compliance, human resources,
economic development, and digital transformation. Claire is particularly passionate about
empowering SMEs and Boards to lead on climate, recognising the urgency of climate action
and the need for targeted, actionable leadership within communities.
