Celebrating Excellence: Reflections on the WCEI National Forum 2025

On Friday, 5 September 2025, members and guests of Women Chiefs of Enterprises International (WCEI) Australia came together in Melbourne for an unforgettable day of insight, inspiration, and celebration at the WCEI National Forum & Awards Gala. Against the backdrop of the vibrant Southbank precinct, the event captured the essence of this year’s theme, Celebrating Excellence, by shining a light on women leaders who are boldly shaping the future of business, innovation, and leadership.
A Forum of Insight and Connection
The afternoon began at CPA House, Freshwater Place, where members and guests gathered and were warmly welcomed by the WCEI team. Our gracious host, WCEI Victorian State Division President Christina Chia, set the tone for the day with her warm address, embodying both professionalism and generosity of spirit. Her words framed the Forum as not only a place of learning, but also a celebration of the strength of women in business coming together.
With Jennifer Bignold (Propps.com & Colab6) guiding the program as MC, the Forum moved seamlessly between insightful discussion and vibrant networking. Adding to this, WCEI National President Liz Ward delivered heartfelt remarks that underscored the significance of the theme Celebrating Excellence, and highlighted the importance of collective leadership in shaping a bold future.
Lunch was served as the official proceedings commenced, setting the stage for a highly interactive and thought-provoking program. Across three sessions, attendees explored the themes of growth strategies, leveraging technology, and leadership — each anchored by remarkable women who generously shared their experiences, challenges, and insights.

Growth Strategies: Bold Moves and Breakthrough Success
The Forum was opened by Endota Founder, Mel Gleeson, who delivered an inspiring keynote address. She walked us through her journey of building Endota into one of Australia’s most recognised wellness brands — a business that not only achieved extraordinary growth, but also embodies the very essence of its core values: Intent, Connect, Truth, and Balance. Mel’s story reminded us that true success is grounded in purpose and authenticity, values that continue to shape Endota’s impact today.
Following her keynote, the conversation turned to a panel on business growth, exploring the daring decisions and breakthrough strategies that drive enduring success.
- Mindi Chisholm (Zafino) shared her approach to scaling a creative business with authenticity and vision.
- Dr Grace Ng (Gyrilla Investments Group) brought an investment perspective to identifying and seizing bold growth opportunities.
Guided by Donna Meredith (Keystone Corporate Positioning & President, TIAW), the panel highlighted the courage required to pursue growth while staying true to one’s values and purpose.

Leveraging Technology: Staying Ahead in a Fast-Evolving World
Technology is reshaping every industry, and this session reminded us of the importance of adaptability and innovation.
- Prof Madhu Bhaskaran (RMIT, Women in STEMM) provided insights into the vital role of women in STEMM and the transformative potential of emerging technologies.
- Tracy Sheen (Author, AI & U) inspired the audience with practical advice on navigating digital disruption with confidence.
Under the moderation of Liz Ward (Tourism Tribe & WCEI National President), the panel emphasised that technology is not only a driver of change but also a powerful enabler of inclusivity and opportunity.

Leadership: Navigating Change with Courage and Clarity
The leadership stream was opened with a moving keynote by Adjunct Prof Kylie Ward, who took us on a deeply personal journey that centred on her family and the “why” that guides her life. Her reflections on resilience, advocacy, and having a voice offered an intimate perspective on leadership, reminding us that true strength comes from staying connected to what matters most.
The session then expanded into a powerful panel discussion on leading with courage, clarity, and authenticity during times of transformation.
- Felicia Mariani shared her experience steering organisations through significant industry change.
- Miriam Coleman reflected on the importance of integrity and having a voice as guiding principles in decision-making.
Together, the panellists unpacked what it means to lead in a VUCA society — one marked by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. Their insights highlighted how modern leaders must embrace adaptability, foster trust, and build cultures where people feel seen and supported, even amidst rapid change.
Expertly moderated by Tracy Morgan (WCEI National Treasurer, Chair and Non-Executive Director), the discussion reinforced that courageous leadership is defined not only by vision, but by the ability to remain grounded, empower others, and ensure every voice is heard while navigating complexity with clarity and conviction.

A Day That Flowed Into Celebration
As the Forum concluded, guests departed to prepare for the evening’s Awards Gala Dinner, carrying with them the energy of the conversations and the inspiration of shared wisdom. The seamless transition from learning to celebration embodied the spirit of WCEI — honouring excellence while strengthening bonds across our national and international community.
Gratitude and Acknowledgement
WCEI extends its heartfelt thanks to each of the speakers, panellists, moderators, and our MC for their contributions, as well as to the members and guests who joined us in making the day so memorable. Together, we created not only an event but a lasting experience — one that will ripple into our businesses, our leadership, and our collective future.
As Oprah Winfrey so powerfully expressed:
“The world’s most prominent women leaders show the importance of honesty, courage, impact and decisive action in leadership.”
This sentiment encapsulates the very spirit of the WCEI National Forum.

The conversations sparked at the Forum are just the beginning. As we move forward, let us continue to collaborate, support, and celebrate one another.
